Jesus warns against Spiritual Co-dependency

In a small village nestled between rolling hills and verdant fields, Jesus gathered a group of people from diverse backgrounds, their faces a mosaic of humanity’s richness. He sat on a simple wooden stool, his eyes radiating warmth and understanding.

“My friends,” Jesus began, his voice calm yet carrying a weight of sincerity, “today I want to speak to you about the perils of spiritual co-dependency, a challenge that can ensnare even the most devout among us.”

The crowd listened intently, their expressions a blend of curiosity and introspection.

“Throughout history, many have claimed to be ‘chosen by God,’ using such a belief to justify their actions and elevate their status. This notion, however, breeds a dangerous form of spiritual narcissism and racial favoritism that clouds judgment and corrupts the heart.”

A murmur of agreement rippled through the crowd.

“True spirituality,” Jesus continued, “is not about belonging to a select tribe or group. It is a personal journey, a path you walk with God in your heart, guided by love, compassion, and humility. When you tether your beliefs to a group that proclaims itself as superior or ‘chosen,’ you risk losing sight of the universal truths that bind us all.”

A young man from the crowd, his brow furrowed in thought, asked, “But Master, how do we avoid this trap? How do we ensure our beliefs remain pure and untainted by such arrogance?”

Jesus smiled gently at the young man’s earnestness. “By remembering that God’s love is boundless and inclusive. It does not discriminate or favor one race or group over another. Each of us is a beloved child of the Divine, and our spiritual journey is about nurturing that divine spark within us, not claiming superiority over others.”

The crowd nodded, their faces reflecting a dawning understanding.

“Remember,” Jesus concluded, “spiritual growth is hindered when it is based on exclusion and ego. It flourishes in an environment of inclusivity, love, and humility. So, guard your hearts against the allure of being ‘chosen’ and focus instead on being channels of God’s unconditional love for all.”

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the village, the people dispersed, each carrying with them the seeds of wisdom sown by Jesus, a reminder that true spirituality is a journey of the heart, open to all and exclusive to none.
